CUHK Summer Institute (SI)

Application Procedures

Step 1 – Submission of Application

Create an account in the online application system. Fill in the required information and upload supporting documents, including school examination reports for the last TWO terms (i.e. 2017 – 2018 and 2018 – 2019 academic year). After submitting your application, save the e-mail that contains your application number (SI19xxxx). (Quote this application number when you contact the Office of Academic Links – Summer Programmes team). We will contact you through e-mail if we need any further information from you.

* For students applying Merit Awards, please choose “Yes” as your answer in “Section 4 – Merit Award for Outstanding Students (For Fee Reduction)”. Provide the supporting documents according to the type of Merit Award you are applying:

1. Upload the document to “Section 8 – Supporting Document” of the online application system.
2.    School Recommendation Form 2. Download a “School Recommendation Form” for your school principal’s completion and ask your school to submit it to the Office of Academic Links through designated CUHK online portal or email to si@cuhk.edu.hk.

Step 2 – Notification of Application Result and Payment Procedures

Application results will be sent by e-mail between April and May. If you are admitted, you will need to settle the total fees payable to CUHK through online payment by Visa or MasterCard within four calendar days after receiving the application result.

Step 3 – Confirmation of Admission

Confirmation of Admission together with a welcome pack will be sent within ten working days after your payment is confirmed. You should go through all documents in the welcome pack and return the required documents to us in a timely manner.

Step 4 – Apply for Student Visa

If you do not have a Hong Kong permanent identity card (i.e. you do not have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong), you are required to apply for a student visa to study in Hong Kong. A set of student visa application forms and guidelines will be included in your welcome pack. Follow the instructions to complete and return the required documents for student visa application.  Please return the documents to CUHK by courier (i.e. SF Express, FedEx, DHL or UPS) to avoid any delay and to allow sufficient time for processing the student visa application (usually 8-12 weeks).
