Summer Institute (SI)
Hello Hong Kong (for non-local students)
Designed for international participants joining the SI, the two-day “Hello Hong Kong” orientation activity from 11 to 12 July will let you settle down in your student hostel and learn how you and your new friends could make the most out of your stay in Hong Kong. During the two-week programme, there will be many opportunities for you to experience the local culture and explore Hong Kong through activities, visits and interaction with the local students in and out of the classroom.
Orientation and Graduation Camps
Spend your first three days and two nights in an orientation camp on campus. Lead by current CUHK students/mentors, you will get to know your fellow participants and experience the vibrant university life at CUHK. You will also be able to gain insight into adapting to the university learning environment from current CUHK student mentors. Residing at one of CUHK’s student hostels is compulsory during the orientation camp. At the end of the programme, a graduation day camp will conclude the two-week learning experience.
To many previous SI participants, some of the fondest memories and lasting friendships originate from the orientation camp. In these few days of orientation, you will enjoy close interaction with your group mates and CUHK student mentors. Each SI participant will be assigned to one of the small groups during the orientation and graduation camps. Six small groups form a big group with each lead by a Chief Camp Counselor and a group of Camp Counselors who will act as your student mentors. Each big group is distinctive, but together they shape the character of the SI.
