Course Description This course is devoted to the study of the management of marketing functions, the analysis of external forces affecting marketing decision making, the implementation and control of marketing activities, and an examination of the global impact of marketing. Course objectives include the development of students’ understanding of the fundamental concepts underlying the selection and assessment of markets and the development and delivery of products, an investigation of the role and contribution of marketing to the conduct of successful business operation and to society, and to develop student abilities in identifying marketing opportunities and viable marketing strategies.

Remark(s) Participants for this subject may or may not have prior marketing knowledge and/or marketing work experience (hence there are no pre-requisites – but must have a deep sense of curiosity and interest, in learning how businesses can succeed through effective marketing strategies

 

Dr Hooi Den Huan was a Director of the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (now renamed the Nanyang Entrepreneurship Academy) and an associate professor and Head of the Marketing and Hospitality and Tourism division, at the Nanyang Business School in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Den obtained his BSc (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Bradford and Phd from the University of Manchester, UK and he was a Visiting Scholar at the Sloan School of Management, MIT. He is also a Chartered Marketer (CIMUK) and a Chartered Accountant (England and Wales) and a co-founder of the Asia Marketing Federation Foundation.

Together with Professor Philip Kotler and Hermawan Kartajaya, they have co-authored seven marketing/entrepreneurship books (one each also involved Professor Sandra Liu and Dr Jacky Mussry).  Five of these books became bestsellers.
