Identify the type of application and the courses you are interested in.

• Local student: Students do NOT need to apply for a student visa to study in Hong Kong.
• Non-local student: Students who NEED to apply for a student visa to study in Hong Kong.

Create an account in the online application system.

Complete the online application form and upload all required supporting documents.

Submit the online application and settle the application fee* within two calendar days of submission. After payment is confirmed, an auto-confirmation email containing your application number (SI26xxxx) will be sent to you.

*HK$150; non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Receive the application result via email between March and May.

Accept the offer online and settle the total fees payable to CUHK via online payment (Visa or MasterCard) within four calendar days.

Receive the “Confirmation of Admission” and welcome pack within 10 working days after payment is confirmed. Please:

• Sign and return the “Confirmation of Admission” and all required documents by the specified deadlines.
• Read the welcome pack carefully and follow all instructions.

Student Visa Application (if applicable)

• Applicants without a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card—i.e., those who do not have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong—must apply for a student visa.
• A set of visa application forms and guidelines will be included in the welcome pack.
• Please complete and return all required documents by the stated deadline. To avoid delays, applicants are strongly advised to return documents to CUHK by courier (e.g., SF Express, FedEx, DHL, UPS).
• Student visa processing typically takes 6–10 weeks.
