You can apply for SURP as an EXCHANGE STUDENT if you are studying at one of CUHK’s exchange partners and have been nominated for exchange. Please contact the study abroad office of your home institution for details about getting nominated.
Applicants should submit the online application by 29 February 2024 with the following documents:
Recent letter of recommendation from an academic staff (a professor/lecturer) at the home institution dated within six months from the time of application
Latest academic transcript
Copy of the identification/particulars page of the applicant’s passport
Copy of proof of English proficiency (Only for students coming from a university where English is not the primary language of instruction)
Exchange Application Record Form
Completed form with endorsement from your home institution
Seek endorsement from exchange/study abroad programme coordinator of your home institution
Fee-paying Students
You can apply for SURP as a FEE-PAYING STUDENT if you are:
A full-time undergraduate student from an institution that is not a CUHK exchange partner, or
A student studying at a CUHK exchange partner but was NOT nominated for exchange.
Applicants should submit the online application by 29 February 2024 with the following documents:
Recent letter of recommendation from an academic staff (a professor/lecturer) at the home institution dated within six months from the time of application
Latest academic transcript
Copy of the identification/particulars page of the applicant’s passport
Copy of proof of English proficiency (Only for students coming from a university where English is not the primary language of instruction)
Test scores achieved in the following English Language Tests will be accepted as the proof of English proficiency. For more information, please refer to the language requirement for exchange students.

2) Students who have a Permanent HKID Card do not need to apply for a student visa for their studies at CUHK. If you are a Permanent HKID Card holder, please upload a photocopy of your HKID card in the online application form.
