Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP)

Fees

The following table shows the programme cost for SURP 2025. Students will be responsible for the costs of their own international and domestic travels, as well as other living expenses such as housing, meals, local transportation, and travel and medical insurance.

*Up to 10 tuition waivers will be awarded to selected candidates who demonstrate strong potential in research. Priority will be given to those who have financial needs.

Student Visa Fee HK$100^–HK$630 (US$13–US$81)
On-campus Accommodation Fee (Optional) HK$8,800 (US$1,120)
Refundable Hostel Deposit HK$1,000 (US$120)
Refundable Caution Deposit HK$450 (US$58)

*US$ amounts are for reference only.

^HK$100 is paid to CUHK and HK$230 is paid to the Hong Kong Immigration Department when collecting the e-Visa.

Notes:

1) All fees paid are non-refundable unless otherwise specified.

2) All SURP participants who are not Permanent Hong Kong Identity Card holders are required to apply for a student visa for their studies in Hong Kong. It usually takes six to eight weeks for the Immigration Department to process a student visa or entry-permit application.

3) All fees and hostel deposit are paid through the online application system upon confirmation of registration. Caution deposit will be made through the credit card during admission.

4) Meals are not covered in the accommodation fee.
